Typical Properties
It is yellow powder or granule with little osmyl and taste bitter. The density is 1.42-1.52.it is soluble in ethyl acetate, ethanol, solution of NaOH and Na2CO3, insoluble in benzene, waterand gasoline.Lower explosion limit is 21g/m3.
Recommended Applications
In NR compounds, Rubber Chemical MBT based vulcanization systems exhibit less reversion upon overcure than other systems.
Vulcanizate obtained with MBT tend to have a relatively low modulus but very good aging properties.
To achieve a faster cure and a higher modulus. MBT can be boosted by the use of secondary accelerators, like as ZBEC, ZDEC, TMTD or DPG.
For the vulcanization of EPDM or IIR rubbers, MBT is a well-established component of many existing vulcanization systems. MBT also finds application in latex form cure systems. MBT is non-staining and non-discoloring.
Recommend Uasge
It usually used 1.0-1.5 phr for the sole accelerator in NR compounds. It might use 0.5-1.5phr in combinations with other accelerator.
It usually used 1.5-3.0 phr either alone or in combination with other acceletators in SBR compounds.
In IIR or EPDM compounds levels up to 1.5 phr may be used in combinations with other accelerators.
Handling and Storage recommendations
Store Rubber Chemical MBT in a cool, dry, well-ventilated area, avoiding exposure of the packaged product to direct sunlight.
Usually the shelf time is 24 months while the recommend use of date is 12 months.
