SIPM is mainly used in producing Dacron, film, etc. In Dacron, it acts as the third monomer of cation modified polyester (CDP), and has good affinity functions with cation dyestuffs because of the CDP fibre containing sulfo group. Dyed fibers are is bright and lustrous, having a complete range of colors and dyeing deeply. This kind of fiber is developing quickly overseas, with modified polyester fiber from Japan and the USA taking more than 15% of the Dacron market. Modified fibers have a woolen feeling, are easily blended with fleece, and are suitable materials for making garments.
