The 2MIX composite consists of two layers which have been given a fire-retardant treatment. The first layer comprises a dense bulk polymer matrix treated with a fire-retardant material. The second is a textile fibre felt held together by synthetic resins. The difference in the densities of the matrix(2400kg/m2) and the felt(50-100kg/m2) helos achieve effective noise reduction.
