Grids- Electrical conductors. Physical support for active material
Oxide
- Lead oxide major component of active material
Paste- Mixture of lead oxide, acid, and water that when cured and formed make active material
Plates- Positive and negative electrodes
Separators- Material which separates positive and negative plates but allows sulfate ions to pass
Cast-On Straps- Lead straps which weld the plates together
Vents- System of baffles or flame arrestors in the battery cover which prevents explosion and acid leakage
Electrolyte- Sulfuric acid
