Dominican amber is a fossil resin of the tertiary geological period, produced by a tree of the hymenaea species. Amber is that different from the amber found in other regions, it is found in several colors, from a light yellow to a deep red, and the extremely rare blue. In the case of fossils the value of amber is not only determined by the weight but by what it has inside, the size, the visibility and the position of the inclusion. Plants, flowers, insects, small vertebrates, even air and water drops can be found. Most specimens are rather small and large size pieces with rare inclusions are highly valuable. Amber can also be used in necklaces, earring, rings, brooches, bracelets or only the stones rough or polished.
