Chemical name:N-(benzinmidazoly-2) methyl carbamate. Common name:Benzimidazole 44#. Molecular formula:C9H9N3O2. Molecular weight:191.2. Standards of product:GB 10501-89. Properties: Pure carbendazim is a white crystal powder,while technical is greyish or brownisl powder;begins sublime at 215-217'C,melts over 290'C and decomp at 360'C,insoluble in water,slightly soluble in acetone,chloroform and some other organic solvents,Soluble in minrtal acids and acetic acid ,forming relative salts,its chemical property is stable. Uses: Carbendazim is a systemic broad-spectrum fungicide controlling a wide range of pathogens such as scab of wheat,powdery mildew of cereable,blast of rice sheath blight of rice,smut of grain crops,rhizoctonia rot,anthracnose and fusarium wilt of cotton,sclerotinia blight of rape,melanows of sugar cane,leaf spot of peanut,powdery miloew and rot of cucurbits,melanows and rot of apple,scab of pear,stem blight of Asparagus,red spot of bean,etc.In addition,it can be used as a preservative in textile,paper-making,leathers,and painter industry as well as apresevative of fruits.

Physical-chemical properties: 1) Appearance: white crystalline powder. 2) M.p.: 302 - 307oC (decomp.). 3) V.p.: 0.09mPa (20oC). 4) KOW: logP=1.38 (pH5), 1.51 (pH7), 1.49 (pH9). 5) S.g./density: 1.45 (20oC). 6) Solubility: a) In water at 24oC, 29 mg/L (pH4), 8mg/L (pH7) ; b) In dimethylformamide 5, acetone 0.3, ethanol 0.3, chloroform 0.1, ethyl acetate 0.135, dichloromethane 0.068, benzene 0.036, cyclohexane <0.01, diethyl ether <0.01, hexane 0.0005 (all in g/L, 24oC). 7) Stability: a) Decomposes at m.p.; stable for at least 2y below 50oC ; b) Slowly decomposes in alkaline solution (22oC) ; c) Stable in acids, forming water-soluble salts. Technical specifications: 1) Appearance: white powder. 2) a.i.content: >=98%. 3) Water: <=0.25%. 4) O-PDA: <=0.2%. 5) Acidity (H2SO4): <=0.2%. Applications: 1) Action: systemic fungicide with protective and curative actions. 2) Uses: control of a wide range of diseases on cereals, fruits, grape, oilseed rape, sugar beet, ornamentals and vegetables. Application rates vary from 120 - 600g/ha depending on crop. A seed treatment (0.6 - 0.8g/kg) will control Tilletia, Ustilago, Fusarium and Septoria in cereals and Rhizoctonia in cotton. Also shows activity against storage diseases of fruit as a dip (0.3 - 0.5g/L). In addition, it can be used as a mildew-proofing agent in textiles, papermaking, leather and paint.
