Military Field Packs
1) The waist strap is padded, especially in the kidney area, and it uses a large or larger quick-disconnect buckle. Padding is everywhere, and thanks to the mesh back design, it is not too hot on your back. 2) All dimensions are adjustable, which is a good thing as it is not easy to make one of these comfortable without extensive "tailoring" to your physique and load. Once established however, it is well-balanced and easy to carry.
